Scrapbook Fantasies Weekly Inspiration Challenge- squares- 'Cathedral Cove'

This weeks challenge from Scrapbook Fantasies is squares. I choose photos of my holiday to NZ with my dad. I love bushwalking and the beach so the photos of walking down to Catherdral Cove are very treasured memories. I used beach papers left over from classes at  Scrapbook Fantasies retreat in 2015.  Here are some close ups..

March- Stuck?!- 'Fun'

I loved this month's March sketch challenge from Stuck?!. Having the smaller photos took me out of my comfort zone. I chose photos from dads and my holiday to New Zeland, I am so enjoying the joy the comes from scrapbooking lovely memories. These photos had a very colourful, fun, silly theme which I have tried to reflect in my choice of paper and embelishments. I found the bright colours quite challenging to work with, but I am please with the outcome.   Here is the sketch if you are now inspired to try this layout. Here is the link if you also want to enter this challenge March Stuck?!

Scrapbook Fantasies Weekly Inspiration Challenge- Princess Pink- 'Joy'

I love Scrapbook Fantasies weekly inspiration challenge as it gets me creating on a regular basis. This weeks theme of 'Princess Pink' was so much fun. I chose a family photo from when I was little to highlight my mums bright pink shirt and also tie in with the other pale pinks of the photo.  I started off mixing Anna Griffins embossing paste with my Bubble Gum gelato on my Ranger craft mat. I find the craft mat so easy to mix paste/paint on as it just wipes right off. I like to use the embossing paste rather than texture paste as I find it easier to apply as its thicker (doesn't have the chance of slipping under the stencil). I then used an arrow stamp and Couture Creations Candy Razzberry Embossing Powder to create a border. I also flicked Kaiser Crafts pink mist. So so so much fun to create.  I raised my wooden embelishments stash and used Dylusions Bubble Gum Pink and Polished Jade to colour the chipboard, I also used the embossing powder to colour the third flower. I used sequins that I received as a prize in Scrapbook Fantasies weekly inspiration challenge late last year.  If you are inspired to create something with Princess Pink you have until 26th of March to upload onto Scrapbook Fantasies Princess Pink.

March- 123- Fun in Auckland

This month's 123 challenge is brown, borders and fun. I chose a photo from my NZ holiday with dad and wrote about our experience staying at a backpackers in Auckland, such lovely memories.  I have used papers from the Bow and Arrow Collection, these are leftover scraps from a class. I always save my leftovers and use them to create something new. I found the kraft card stock quite a challenging colour to work with. Free drawing the border was the most fun part of creating this page, the more imperfect the better, just go for it.  Thanks to design team at 123 for setting a good challenge.

March- White with 1- 'Bliss'

Here I am, totally out of my comfort zone, entering an online challenge that's not connected to my local store and having to overcome my fear of white space.  The White with 1 challenge for March is to have 85% white and only the colour 'orange peel'. My dad is ageing and so part of my coping is scrapbooking (zone out, relax, creative endorphins). I have chosen a photo from our road trip to New Zeland, great memories. Here is what I created...  I started by spreading Golden's gel medium in the bottom right corner to create a seal so when I put my 'Mango' gelato down I could spread the colour easily with a baby wipe. I then used some new dyes that I bought in the Scrapbook Fantasies Online Store to crest my embellishments.  Here is the mood board from White with 1-March. If you're reading this before March 31 hop over to White with 1 March and give this challenge a go. If your reading this after March 31, still give it a go as it's a great creative challenge to use one colour and lots of white space.

Super Saturday

My local scrapbooking and art supplies store Scrapbook Fantasies holds a monthly crop (creating) night. Tonight there were ladies scrapbooking, card making and creating off the page. The creative juices were pumping, lots of sharing, collaborating, socialising and fun. I worked on my White with 1 and 123 March challenges which I will post up tomorrow.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I have created this blog to share my creations, not only for online challenges but what I create in classes and in my own time at home. I will share little tips that I've learnt along the way for those new to scrapbooking. I also want to use this as a space to share the story behind my photos. For me scrapbooking has evolved into not only documenting memories but also about the creating experience. I am starting to explore other creative mediums (cards, art journaling) because I find creating so fun, invigorating and relaxing all rolled into one.
